Biographical Text

Caroline Kadylak, nee Hyra, was born in Angusville, Manitoba, Canada. In 1926 she moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to live with her sister Anna, then to Winnipeg, Toronto, and New York City. She worked as a waitress until she married Michael Kadylak. When she returned to Toronto she worked in a factory making uniforms for the military, while Michael worked as a barber. Caroline and Michael did a lot of fundraising for the war bonds and were acknowledged for their war efforts.

After the War they moved to Victoria, BC, and then to Vancouver. There they bought, renovated, and resold older homes. Caroline and Michael were both involved in many social and cultural activities at the Hall. Caroline was in the choir and for many years acted as treasurer for the AUUC.
