Biographical Text
William Hoshowsky was born in the village of Kordybaniwka in the Halchyna Buchak region of Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1909 and settled in Dysart, Saskatchewan. He came to Vancouver in 1925. Throughout his life he worked as a farmer, a cook, and in various businesses.
William began participating in the activities of the Ukrainian Labour Famer Temple Association in 1925. He was an active member of the Ukrainian community. At the ULFTA William could socialize with others in his native Ukrainian language and could pursue his interested in Ukrainian traditions. He especially enjoyed cooking and music.
